Disappointed with AI slop? Let’s talk about your story.
As ChatGPT, Claude, and other generative AI programs evolve, many aspiring authors turn to them to flesh out their ideas, to flesh out their characters, to develop their plot outlines, and to write their stories. It’s fast. Better yet, it’s cheap. Unfortunately, what they discover is that AI produces slop, mediocre content that leaves readers less than impressed.
Readers don’t want to buy or read stories without heart or soul. They want stories written by real people. Readers also have strongly negative opinions about AI-generated stories, with many feeling duped and angry when they buy such stories. Feelings like that alienate readers, which is not something any author wants.
So, what does a frustrated author do when he or she knows the story premise is a good one, but the execution leaves much to be desired? Such an author acknowledges the limitations of AI and hires a human being—a ghostwriter.
Hen House Publishing offers ghostwriting already, but I am now offering a “Manuscript Rescue” service to help such authors move on from their AI-generated disasters. This is a premium service involving rewriting an AI-generated manuscript entirely.
What I’ll do is read what you have and treat the AI-generated “disasterpiece” as a detailed outline, much like I do when adapting screenplays to novels. Then I’ll begin writing, injecting humanity into your characters, realism into action scenes, and plausibility into details.
And I won’t use AI to do it. Every word of the new manuscript will be written by yours truly: human-authored, human-centric.

My base rate for ghostwriting fiction begins at a very reasonable $0.25 per word. That includes an initial consultation, drafting the story, and up to three rounds of revision to ensure your satisfaction with the content produced for you. Compare that to the median rate shown by the EFA’s rates calculator: $0.375 per word.
