MFRW Author 52-week blog challenge
n
nThis week’s blog prompt is “What, if anything, would you pay not to have to do again?”
n
nThere are many things I will never do again, such as going through high school again. Time has taken care of that torment and I never need dread going to class among a cadre of hateful bullies ever again. There are various people I never need see again; I don’t have to pay to not see them.
n
nI think, rather than pay not to do something again, I’d be more interested in paying to have certain things done. Of course, those certain things, the contractors hired, and the money paid would have be untraceable to me.
n
n’Nuff said there.
n
nHowever, since I haven’t the extravagant income or resources to effect anonymity, I settle for settling some issues in my writing. Or in my daydreams. Or not at all. I just leave them behind as best I can and direct my focus elsewhere.
n
nAs for things I’d rather never do again, most of them involve the medical profession. Frankly, when medicine figures out and standardizes examination and treatment options that don’t involve humiliation and pain, then I’ll be more trusting of doctors. If I could pay to never need a doctor again, I would. Instead, I simply avoid going.
n
nThis hypothetical discussion, of course, assumes payment in the form of money rather than in sweat equity, peace of mind, or other means–probably because money is the easiest metric to measure.
n
nTherefore that hypothetical question remains an exercise in whimsy.n
